Preparing for a Campus Visit

Single Hero

An All Saints' Episcopal Day School pre-kindergarten student and teacher

A Parent's Guide to Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Assessments

Campus visits aren't about "acing" an assessment—they're about letting your child's natural curiosity shine! We want to see how they explore, problem-solve, and interact in a new environment. Most importantly, we want them to have fun while we get to know them.

Don't add pressure: Avoid saying this is their %22new school%22 or that they %22have to do well.%22 Don't make specific promises: Things can change on a busy campus. Keep expectations general and positive. Don't cram: Assessments measure natural abilities, not memorization. Your child already has everything they need! Don't stress about separation: Nervousness is completely normal. Acknowledge feelings and offer reassurance calmly.

We can't wait to meet your child!

These visits are designed to understand your child's natural abilities and how they respond to new experiences. No single skill is the focus—we're looking at the whole child. Create a positive atmosphere and let your child be themselves. This is as much about us getting to know them as it is about them getting to know us!
