Character Cultivation

All faiths are welcome and celebrated at All Saints'. While respecting others' beliefs, we stay true to our Episcopal tradition by worshiping in chapel two times a week for all students and faculty. Students participate in chapel as both a presenter and a member of the congregation through informal Morning Prayer services which are held on Thursdays for lower school students and Fridays for middle school students. All-school chapel on Tuesday mornings brings the entire school together and provides an opportunity to slow down, reflect, and come together as a community.

Community engagement is a cornerstone of the All Saints' educational experience. The opportunity to serve our school and greater community is an important part of spiritual and character development at All Saints'. 

In developmentally appropriate ways, our religion curriculum engages our students in learning about the Old and New Testaments, about the tradition and history of the Episcopal Church, other Christian denominations, and non-Christian religions and spiritual movements, and about developing a habit of reflection rooted in faith and intellect. In eighth grade, students study world religion and have the opportunity to learn the basic beliefs and practices of Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Sikhism. A day-long world religion field trip allows students to visit a synagogue, mosque, Hindu temple, Sikh gurdwara, and Buddhist Meditation center and hear a presentation from practitioners of those faiths. This allows students to see and hear about these different faiths from the perspective of faithful practitioners of each religious tradition.

Outside of curricular opportunities to affirm our commitment to inclusivity, since 2016, the School has hosted interfaith conversations several times a year to allow for dialogue among different faith constituencies within the community.
