Preparing for a Campus Visit
A Parent's Guide to Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten Assessments
Campus visits aren't about "acing" an assessment—they're about letting your child's natural curiosity shine! We want to see how they explore, problem-solve, and interact in a new environment. Most importantly, we want them to have fun while we get to know them.

Dos and Don'ts
Dos: Setting Your Child Up for Success
- Build excitement early: Talk about "playing with a new teacher" rather than a "school visit." Show them photos of campus and this photo of Mrs. Peacher from our website.
- Create a connection: If your child is shy, have them draw a picture to give their greeter—it's a great icebreaker!
- Stick to routine: Follow your regular schedule and ensure they eat a good meal beforehand. Avoid sugary treats.
- Arrive early: Plan to arrive 5 minutes early so your child can settle in and use the restroom.
- Dress comfortably: Skip the fancy outfits! Comfortable clothes that allow free movement are best for play.
Don'ts: Avoiding Common Pitfalls
- Don't add pressure: Avoid saying this is their "new school" or that they "have to do well."
- Don't make specific promises: Things can change on a busy campus. Keep expectations general and positive.
- Don't cram: Assessments measure natural abilities, not memorization. Your child already has everything they need!
- Don't stress about separation: Nervousness is completely normal. Acknowledge feelings and offer reassurance calmly.

We can't wait to meet your child!
We can't wait to meet your child!
These visits are designed to understand your child's natural abilities and how they respond to new experiences. No single skill is the focus—we're looking at the whole child. Create a positive atmosphere and let your child be themselves. This is as much about us getting to know them as it is about them getting to know us!
